150 Years of Oil & Gas Success

Orthwein Energy’s roots stretch all the way back to owner Rick Orthwein’s great-grandfather, William Cullen McBride.

W.C. McBride was a tenacious, relentless and trailblazing oil exploration pioneer. He began as a teenage roustabout in the 1870s, but by the early 1900s, the company he founded became one of the largest independent producers in America. In 1990, his great-grandson took over the company, eventually renaming it Orthwein Energy.

The Orthwein Team

Orthwein Energy has been a family business since W.C. McBride founded the company 150 years ago. Even through shifts in ownership, we have always been a family-owned company. Today, our team is small but nimble.

We’re here to partner with you – whether it’s to lease our open acreage or sell your mineral rights to us.
